What is Switchgear?
Switchgear primarily serves a control and protection function in power systems. It controls circuit connection and disconnection by opening and closing circuit breakers and starting and stopping equipment, and switches power paths through bus tie switches to distribute electrical energy. In the event of a short circuit, it can quickly cut off the fault current and provide overload fault protection. There are many types of switchgear, and the internal components that can be selected also vary, so it is necessary to adapt to local conditions.
Main Types of Switchgear
Low-voltage switchgear
The GCS type withdrawable switchgear is a low-voltage complete distribution device used for distribution, motor centralized control, and reactive power compensation in power supply systems with a three-phase AC frequency of 50 (60) Hz, a rated operating voltage of 400 V or 600 V, and a rated current of 5000 A or below.
The GCK type withdrawable switchgear is designed for distribution and motor centralized control in power supply systems with three-phase four-wire or five-wire AC systems, voltages of 380V or 660V, a frequency of 50Hz, and a rated current of 5000A or below.
The GGD type AC low-voltage distribution cabinet is designed for power conversion, distribution, and control of power, lighting, and distribution equipment.
MNS-type withdrawable switchgear is used for the control of power generation, transmission, distribution, and power consumption equipment, and for reactive power compensation of the main busbar through capacitor compensation cabinets.
High-voltage switchgear
KYN28A-24-type armored withdrawable AC metal-enclosed switchgear is used for receiving and distributing electrical energy, as well as controlling and protecting circuits.
KYN61-40.5 type armored withdrawable AC metal-enclosed switchgear is primarily used in substations and power plant distribution rooms for receiving and distributing electrical energy.
XGN type box-type fixed metal-enclosed switchgear is suitable for three-phase AC single busbar, double busbar, and single busbar with bypass systems, serving to receive and distribute electrical energy.
Ring Main Unit
The SRM-12 type fully sealed, fully insulated, gas-filled ring main unit is a high-tech product independently developed by LUGAO, available in two categories: fixed-type unit combinations and expandable-type units, to meet the needs of various substations for compact switchgear.
The XGN15-12 type SF6 unit-type AC metal-enclosed ring main switchgear is used for receiving and distributing electrical energy, with the main switch inside the cabinet being an SF6 switch.
Benefits of Switchgear
Highly integrated, space-saving
Various components are integrated into a single cabinet, featuring a compact structure that reduces floor space requirements and enables quick installation and deployment.
Multiple protection measures
Vacuum circuit breakers provide rapid tripping to quickly interrupt short-circuit currents. Combined with microprocessor-based protection devices and fuses, this setup prevents overload faults. The multi-layered protection system safeguards operators from accidents caused by misoperations.
Convenient intelligent operation
The cabinet is equipped with a processor, allowing direct and intuitive data viewing. It supports remote operation, making it convenient for operators to use.
Good economic benefits
The modular design facilitates maintenance, with a simple structure that is easy to maintain, reducing maintenance costs. Quick repairs minimize downtime losses.
